Introduction
A Dilemma is a choice that must be made between two equally difficult things.
(Bear and two hunters)
We are living in the time of the Third Exodus.
The first Exodus brought a people out of a pagan land by a vindicated prophet with the pillar of fire, complete redemption, going out of Egypt and coming in to Canaan.
The second Exodus brought a people out of traditions of the fathers, by a vindicated God-Prophet, who was the Pillar of Fire, going out of the law and in to grace.
The third exodus brought a people out of the bondage of denominations and creeds, by a vindicated prophet with the pillar of fire, coming out of the world order and going in to the Rapture.
“the very same things that He did in the natural, He’s antityping it in a spiritual exodus.”
The conditions present at each Exodus are the same.
We live today in a pagan society.
America rejected God in 1956. The nominal church put Him out, and He is seen knocking at the door but they refuse to open.
“I indict this generation, in the Name of Jesus Christ, under the authority of God’s Word. You are crucifying Him again.”
It is summed up in the first Exodus like this:
8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
But when there come time for the promise to be fulfilled, there raised up a Pharaoh who knew not Joseph. And they begin a persecution.
And it caused in the persecution, that caused that people to go to crowding together and praying. And always persecution strengthens the cause, been through the age: persecution. 53-0603 — God Commissioning Moses
You might not think we are under persecution, but we are.
The greatest persecution the Romans ever gave the church was when they made it the official religion.
Notice, there she is. Now, she’s loosed, to call all these little loose ends, “Oh, well, don’t make any difference, anyhow.” 64-0719M — The Feast Of The Trumpets
(Satan-Eve)
In the first Exodus the political and economic system was specifically manipulated to hinder Israel from fulfilling the Word for their hour.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
This was the promise.
9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
It was a conspiracy to weaken the church by weakening home life.
11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
This same thing was happening in Israel when Jesus was born.
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
The Egyptian and Roman systems made it nearly impossible to fulfill your obligations to God and to the state. The same thing is true today, yet God used that system to fulfill His Word.
Satan knows that God’s people just simply doing what they are called to do will result in their deliverance and his destruction.
The man’s covenant is work.
After the fall, men and women were given separate covenants.
17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Anxious work was his covenant. In the New Testament this does not save a man, but it is still required of him.
A man who refuses to work shouldn’t eat.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
Work so that you are able to give.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Work for your boss.
22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
Work is a form of brotherly love.
9 But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10 And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11 And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12 That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
A man is required to provide for his own family.
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
The god of this evil age is going to make it difficult for you to do that, and still have time to care for your family in their spiritual needs.
As the Exodus came near, the work became more difficult.
4 And the king of Egypt said unto them, Wherefore do ye, Moses and Aaron, let the people from their works? get you unto your burdens.
5 And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
6 And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,
7 Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves.
8 And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
Can you imagine how Amram felt as the pressure to work began to increase, and the entire political system was against their family operating the way it was supposed to?
A Dilemma is a choice that must be made between two equally difficult things. Would he work or pray? He did both.
(Amram came home and told about boys pulling a wagon)
(Maniac boss)
(We’re supposed to be the people of God. It seems like He doesn’t care)
“Oh, but, dear, when I pray so much, and still God don’t hear me, and seems like it just gets worse all the time. The more I pray, the worse it gets.” 56-0513 — Teaching On Moses
Seems like a man would just quit, but Amram couldn’t quit. He had a little room where he prayed all night.
(Amram’s job making bricks to house idols)
And this real Christian man down there working like that, for the enemy. But he was a slave, he was in bondage. He had to do it.
Every night when he would come home, he would pray. And go up the steps again, and pray and pray and pray, and come back down. Got no better; kept getting worse. 56-0513 — Teaching On Moses
Little old frail body, lost a lot of weight. Up the creaky steps he goes, goes over there and kneels down. He said, “O Jehovah!” Oh, he prayed like he had never prayed before!
He said, “Jehovah, looky here! You’re a real God. We believe that You got ears. We believe You got eyes. And You know all things. And we believe You’re the God of the Hebrews, and we’re the people of the promise. We believe You keep Your Word.”
Said, “Look at these heathens out here, how they’re taking our cheap labor, and building great big roads and idols, and everything. You, Jehovah, would You sit in Heaven and let the heathens rule over You? I don’t believe You’ll do it.” Amen!
I still don’t believe He’ll do it! Amen! When the devil comes in, God is still God! Right! He’ll not permit these devils to do that. I believe that, today, that when fashion and nonsense, and all this tommyrot going on; still, God still reigns and He is still God! Right!
What we need is somebody like Amram, got the burden on their heart, who will stay there and pray it through, until the Heavens is split open yonder, God comes down and answers prayer. Amen. 56-0513 — Teaching On Moses
(Vision of the Angel)
Well, the next day he goes out to work. And all the fellows up there, they notice Amram. Instead of coming, you know, being all stooped down and weary, had his shoulders up, said, “Pass some more bricks. Come on, let’s go!”
“What’s the matter?” “Glory to God! God is going to answer prayer.” You know, it makes you feel good when you get an answer. Don’t we know that, pop and mom, when God gives an answer?
You don’t have to see a vision. Just know the answer is there, that’s all. That’s all, just know the answer is there.
Now, listen close now, I want you to listen, what happened. Now you know, after a while, said, “All right, Amram, what’s the matter with you?” “God is going to answer prayer! God is going to answer prayer!”
“Well, how is He going to answer prayer?” “That don’t make any difference.”
One old guy walked up, and said, “Now when do you think He’ll ever answer?” “Well, I ain’t going to tell you, ’cause you’re an unbeliever, anyhow. Pass me some more bricks.”
Don’t make any difference. No, sir. Certainly not. “Pass me some more bricks. Hallelujah! Going to answer prayer!” That’s the way you feel when you know it’s going to happen. Isn’t it? Yes, sir. 56-0513 — Teaching On Moses
Sometimes we have to make a choice whether we’re going to serve God or make money.
Some things have to be non-negotiable.
You lose every time you bargain with the devil.
Moses said “we won’t leave on hoof behind”.
Every one of the disciples had to change occupations when they met Jesus. He became first in their lives.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
(Rich Young Ruler)
27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?
28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.
You’ll be better off if you put God first.
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Abraham was a rich man, but the Lord knew he would forsake all to follow Him.
He had a dilemma when he separated from Lot, he chose the harder way, the plain of Mamre, where it was more difficult to make a living.
Notice, Abraham up there with Sarah, his wife. No doubt but many times the meal barrel got way down to the bottom. But they still served the Lord. They were in the perfect will of God, though they had to suffer just a little bit to make ends meet.
Nearly every one that really truly serves God meets them kind of times. Sure we do. Sometimes you wonder how you’re going to get the kiddies some shoes for school, how you’re going to make this bill and that bill.
Don’t worry. There’s only one thing to do, is rest on His promise. I’ve never seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread; so it doesn’t matter. 56-0816 — The Working Of The Holy Spirit
Conclusion.
Because thou hast chosen the narrow path, the harder way, thou hast walked of your own choosing, thou hast picked the correct and precise decision, and it is MY WAY.
Because of this momentous decision, a huge portion of Heaven awaits thee. What a glorious decision thou hast made! 65-0124 — Birth Pains
The harder way might mean more hours at work, it might mean less. I can’t tell you what you should be doing. Just follow the Word, you’ll be okay.
